Supplement your income or make waxing a career.

By learning the art of face and body waxing you have opened the door to a very lucrative business opportunity. Waxing is still the most preferred and common form of temporary hair removal. It is easy to learn and extremely profitable. For years in my salon, waxing has been up there as one of the highest revenue earners when comparing the many procedures that we do.  Further, waxing is not expensive to set up and when you have perfected your technique, you can easily earn a decent second income or create a whole new career for yourself with this beauty skill alone.

HOW DO WE LEARN?

Have you ever noticed that some people learn a lot faster than others?  I see it every time I teach or hold a class on any subject.   I will admit I was one of the slower learners and I am not sure why.   I would like to think this was because I wanted to make sure that I got it right. I have found personally, I learn much faster and understand more if there are two particular elements to the teaching.

The first one is, I need to see it demonstrated to me and it usually takes more than once. To have the benefit of watching it being done a few times and at the end be able to see the result, is I believe,  the best way to learn.

The second thing is to actually do the procedure yourself. I have found that If  I can get some actual hands on experience early on in the course, I learn twice as fast and learn more thoroughly.  Now, we all know that is the scary part and some of us shy away from stepping forward, particularly in a class situation, however you are going to eventually have to do it so why not as sooner rather than later.

You can read an instruction manual on almost any subject you chose to learn but there is no substitute for hands on experience.  It has always been said, learn something and then practice, practice, practice.

What if I was to tell you that there is now a way to both watch the procedure over and over again until you understand what is being done, AND to practice without a class full of people watching??  You will still have to do the procedure, but you won’t have the added pressure of all of the eyes.

Before I go into how, I want to go back five years to when one of my apprentices had returned from her waxing class and complained that she was extremely sore after the instructor used her for a waxing demonstration.  When I had a look at the area which had been waxed I was horrified at the bruising to this poor girl’s legs.  It turned out in this case that the instructor was actually a qualified hair dresser and was teaching waxing at this school on a part time basis.  She used the wrong waxing procedure for that particular area of the body and the result was heavy bruising.  Now I am not saying that is the norm, infact, I hope,  far from it.  My apprentice also complained that when a procedure was demonstrated it was done only once and then the students were told to practice on each other.  This happens more often because of a lack of qualified teachers and or the salary is too low to keep properly qualified staff.

It was then, five years ago  that I decided that there was a very real need for an inexpensive training course which was able to be viewed time and time again until you understood what was being taught and a training manual to supplement the training.  Also, as I think you must be able to ask question, there would have to be a facility in which student could ask questions as much time as it was necessary to learn properly.

It took me two years to record on film the six separate subjects of beauty therapy.  I chose to record what I thought were the main procedures that one should know if you were seriously contemplating entering the beauty industry and they are waxing,  nail technology, massage, manicure/pedicure,  facials and lash tinting and lash and brow perming. I formed a company and called it Beauty Courses Online and it has been a great success.  The company only concentrates on the beauty  courses.  We don’t have  anything else. This means that you can now learn by correspondence with step by step training, on a set of  DVDs which you can watch on your Television or computer as many times as you like.  You also are assisted with an in-depth training manual and you have access to a “frequently Asked Questions facility”.  If that is not enough, you also have, exclusive to the course members, email access to me if you have a problem that you can’t solve.  Usually there will be a very simple solution which, at first glance, was not obvious. I haven’t had any one with a problem that couldn’t be solved with one question.  Hours of video, training manuals, and email assistance 7 days a week, and at a price you can afford.  Unlike traditional cosmetology school, beauty courses online doesn’t require months of class training and practicum work. Beauty Courses Online will give you the education you need to become a working professional in weeks.  There is also no age restrictions or prerequisites for beauty training .You have the ability to get the job skills you always needed to become an independent professional.

Stay at home mums: We know that you often don’t have a set schedule. Study while the baby naps. Pause lessons throughout the day. Beauty training such as this will help you get job training while still remaining at home for your family.  After you learn waxing, you have the option of learning other procedures like: massage, facials, manicures, pedicures, and artificial nails. In addition, you will receive training with therapy instrument care, sanitation, anatomy.   As a beautician, you make your own hours. Manage your clients and keep your schedule as you please.

Market your business to bring in more work or keep a short list of clients. Almost half of cosmetologists and barbers are self-employed. You can work in a salon or from home. You decide. There are an endless number of opportunities when you decide to study beauty courses online.  If you would like to know more, CLICK HERE or on the link below which will take you to our waxing course page.  There is a video description of the course and read more about what the course covers.   http://www.beautycoursesonline.com/pages.php?pID=9 Also you can see a demonstration of an actual underarm wax being performed on YouTube at this link.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPIHxYrahy8

Good luck with your new career.   Karen Harrington

What Do I Need To Know About Leg Waxing?

Posted by admin on Sep 3, 2009

i plan to get my legs professionally waxed. this is my first time and i know nothing about the process. is it possible to only get half of my leg waxed (below the knee) and how bad does this hurt? how much does it cost and is this cheaper than waxing your entire leg? and of course, i must ask….how bad does it hurt? can anyone describe to me in the greatest detail what it feels like, just so i’m prepared. do you advise that i drag someone along for a hand to hold? i’m pretty scared!

waxing is a better option than shaving, tweezing etc. effects will last long.
it is possible to get it done only below your knees. this is called half leg. you could tell that you want just half leg waxing. its cost would be half of full leg waxing. so it is definitely cheaper than full leg waxing.
it does hurt . do you have like long and coarse hair on your legs? if yes then it is better you shave it and then when it is half grown you can go to the salon. so that the pain is less. since for long hairs the pain wil be unbearable.may be you could take some pain killer 20 miuntes before you start to wax.that might help you
you do not need anyone to hold your hand etc. its not so bad! have you done threading on your face before? it will be almost like that
i have no clue how much waxing will cost

hope this helps

Which Hair Removal Method Do You Prefer

Posted by admin on Aug 29, 2009

The laser performed removal of the hair beneath the skin, was done experimentally for twenty years before it officially entered the market more than ten years ago. For some types of hair removal procedures, your skin type can help to determine the likelihood that the process will work on you specifically. Now there are several affordable hair removal options for men and women but you might have to adjust your expectations when it comes to the length of time the unwanted hair will actually be removed when considering the cheaper options.

You can easily find a laser hair removal practitioner that is willing to offer ear hair removal but when it comes to nose hair removal, you are probably stuck with shorter-term options. The cost for laser hair removal vary a lot and your best bet is to shop around and consider the various options available in your local area. For men, part of the problem might be figuring out what options are available, the cost and time involved, pros and cons of each option and related questions that guys want to know the answer to.

Because of the large area that generally gets treated during chest hair removal, several main options are available for men that could offer medium to long term hair removal with repeated treatments. Waxing can offer short to medium term hair removal while laser and pulsed light treatment might offer longer term hair removal, usually with repeated treatments. Many athletes opt for a longer term solution for hair removal such as laser hair removal or light-based hair removal treatment that could offer several weeks or months of hair removal with repeated treatments.

Your skin type is a very important determining factor for the success or lack of success when it comes to laser and pulsed light hair removal treatment. And before you start tweezing consider whether or not you shall choose laser or light hair removal treatment in the near future. An experienced practitioner can tell you to avoid tweezing and using other hair removal options before any laser or light treatment you schedule.

Before exfoliating after hair removal treatment, you better check with your practitioner to ensure you do not end up irritating your skin. That is important if your skin is already a bit red from the treatment. Nowadays laser hair removal is safe and it is usual that the patient’s skin might experience a little redness or pinkness on the targeted hair areas.

Modern laser technology makes it possible to remove unwanted hair from your body parts. A gentle beam of concentrated light on the targeted hair areas passes through your skin to your hair follicles. This technology is now one of the most effective ways of removing hair from the body in a permanent fashion.

Another well established method is electrolysis, which is considered to be a true permanent hair removal option. The cost might be too high for you depending on the amount of hair to be treated and the number of visits you may need to remove all your unwanted hair. The electrolysis for man by killing the root, might seem to be ideal, but it is not so dependable and can be expensive. Laser hair removal is much less expensive than the method of removing hair with electrolysis. Some individuals may only be eligible for electrolysis due to physical and hair characteristics which make laser hair removal very difficult or impossible.

Why Doesn’t Laser Hair Removal Always Permanently Remove Hair?

Posted by admin on Aug 11, 2009

Laser Hair Removal is now one of the most common ways to get rid of unwanted hair, and done right, can definitely provide permanent hair removal. But the effectiveness of Laser Hair Removal is dependent upon a number of factors, including (i) the variety of laser being used, (ii) the color of your hair, (iii) the color / kind of your skin and (iv) the phase of the hair in the hair growth cycle.

There are at least 5 common laser types used for Laser Hair Removal nowadays. The best laser type for you will depend on the combination of you hair color and skin type. And even if you get it all right, you still might not be left with permanent hair removal right away. You see, the answer lies in the hair growth cycle, and more distinctly, what stage of the cycle your problem hair is in…. sounds complex – it is !

Before we learn about the hair growth cycle, it is critical to understand just how Laser Hair Removal literally works. That is, to understand specifically how you can obtain permanent hair removal, getting an insight into the laser process is crucial.

The laser process doesn’t actually physically remove the unwanted hair. The energy from the laser actually travels through the skin, and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and shaft. When this energy is soaked into a hair, the follicles are damaged, which then impairs that distinct hairs capability to grow. Eventually the hair will fall out, typically within a matter of weeks.

Getting knowledge of how the laser works is critical. You need to always remember that the laser doesn’t just make the hair fall out right away. It actually impairs the ableness of a hair to grow, causing it to eventually fall out. Now that we have a brief understanding of how the laser works, it is time to get an appreciation of how the hair growth cycle impinges upon the permanence of laser hair removal.

For permanent hair removal, the hair needs to be in the right stage of the hair growth cycle, and if it is, you might not need further Laser Hair Removal treatment.

You see, the hair growth cycle consists of three stages, and the permanent nature of Laser Hair Removal is more predictable when the hair is in one stage particularly – the growth stage.

A hair will go through 3 stages in its lifetime : (1) Active/Anagen (2) Regressive/Catagen (3) Resting/Telogen. Laser hair removal is more effectual in the Anagen stage where the hair contains the most pigment, and is most affected by the laser light. If the laser treatment is applied when the hair is in either of the 2 other phases, then the probability of permanent hair removal is less.

Although hair is primarily the same thing from person to person, the way an individual’s hair grows is so unique, owing to many factors including: weight, metabolism, age, genetics and environmental conditions. However, regardless of how these factors act upon individual hair growth, hair itself grows through three differing phases:

1. The ACTIVE or ANAGEN growth phase, encompasses approximately 85 % of our body hair at any given point in time and can last up to several years. During this stage, the hair shaft and follicle has an affluence of pigment and is most affected by the laser light.

2. The REGRESSIVE or CATAGEN phase is the period during which the hair ceases to grow but is not yet shed. This phase often lasts a few weeks comprising about 3 – 4% of our total body hair at any given moment in time. The laser will work in this stage, but if it is late in this part of the cycle, a new hair might already be coming through and the new hair will not be affected by the laser.

3. The RESTING or TELOGEN phase lasts 5 – 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and the new hair emerges. The new hair mightn’t be affected by the laser because it will not have pigment in it yet, remembering that the laser actually relies on the pigment to find the hair. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time.

So now we understand the growth cycle of hair, it needs to be asked, “Is permanent hair removal actually possible?” The answer is Yes, Laser Hair Removal can literally provide a level of permanency. As you can see, if a hair in the Active/Anagen stage is revealed to the laser, then that hair will most likely be killed permanently. If a hair that is in either of the other 2 stages is subjected to the laser, then that hair will most likely be killed, but the new hair coming through will still grow.

So to achieve permanent hair removal, you will more than likely need multiple laser treatments. You could be lucky – your first Laser hair removal treatment will permanently remove all of your problem hair, but the possibility is that you will need a number of sessions at set intervals to ensure that you get to the hair when it is in the first stage of growth. And that’s all there really is to know, permanent Laser Hair Removal is definitely possible !

Sugaring for Hair Removal~Nina’s Technique

Posted by admin on Aug 5, 2009

2 Sugaring for Hair Removal~Ninas TechniqueI love this recipe which I have used for a long while. Sugaring is a tried and true method of simple hair removal.

Just as you may purchase hair removal wax, you can make your own hair removal product that only require sugar, lemon juice and water!

For centuries, women have relied on this and similar methods.

Sugaring is safe to use and is great for body and face.

All hair textures seem to work well with this recipe.

For best results, allow hair to be longer than a stubble…this will allow hair to be “grabbed” in the sugar.

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup water

Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Bring down to a simmer once you have brought this to a boil. Adjust temperature as needed and continue stirring until mixture is a rich brown or amber color.

Pour into freezer quality plactic containers or mason jars (run jar under hot tap water and dry before using to avoid cracking glass)

Place lid on jar after product has cooled to room temperature or warm enough to handle.

Any questions?
Just send a message here or to my page.

Thank you!!
